Hey hey 👋
My name is Travis Fischer.
I'm an entrepreneur, software developer, open source author, and anime fan.
I'm currently exploring the Passion Economy and am excited about building products that will help enable a more independent and fulfilling future of work.
My Passion
I absolutely love to build.
Products, games, websites, tech demos — I love using my technical skills to build cool & interesting things.
In my spare time, I work on open source projects related to React, TypeScript, computer graphics, etc.
I specialize in generalizing.
What? Isn't that a bit contradictory?
Well, this actually describes me pretty well. I love being able to contribute value across different ladders of abstraction, all the way from the highest levels of business strategy down to the lowest levels of implementation details.
My core competency is full stack product development, but my focus on generalizing makes me an ideal early stage founder. Combining this passion with the right team and problem space is where you'll find me at my absolute best.
Bio
I grew up in Wisconsin and fell in love with programming at an early age, making games for TI calculators.
I went on to study computer science at Brown University, and after spending a few years living in Thailand, I now live in Brooklyn, New York.
In the past, I've worked as a software engineer at Facebook and Microsoft, had a few startup exits, and have definitely had my fair share of failures along the way.
Here are some of the more noteworthy products that I've worked on:
- Saasify - Shopify for API-based SaaS products
- Transitioning to an open source platform in 2021
- Read more about VC feedback and my key takeaways
- WebTorrent - Streaming torrent client for the web
- Successful open source project since 2013
- Automagical - AI-based video creation tool
- Acquired by Verblio in Fall 2018
